Ryser has rhythm while Galfi searches for a foothold
Ryser comes from a W35 Verbier semifinal, where she won three matches in straight sets before Angella Okutoyi edged her 7-6(6), 0-6, 7-6(4). The middle-set blackout was untidy, but recovering to force a final tiebreak said more about her resilience than the bagel did.
Galfi has not won a completed match since June. Her 2-6, 0-6 clay loss to Mayar Sherif was especially revealing: once Sherif raised the height toward the backhand, Galfi struggled to recover her timing or command the exchanges.
Height, patience and a generous home price
Galfi’s serve and forehand can still keep points short, so Ryser cannot simply trade flat pace and hope for the best. Her cleaner route is to vary the trajectory, push Galfi above her preferred backhand contact point and then change direction before the Hungarian can settle.
Ryser also won their only previous meeting 6-0, 6-3 on indoor hard. That is no clay blueprint, but it removes the intimidation factor; combined with recent wins, local support and Galfi’s fragile momentum, it makes Ryser’s price the attractive side.
