Parks has had the more convincing recent tour-level evidence: she came from a set down to beat Maja Chwalinska in Monterrey, then faced strong opposition again. That matters against Zhu, whose latest verified match was an August qualifying loss to Angela Fita Boluda.

Zhu’s preceding North American qualifying defeats in Cincinnati and Toronto also came after she had taken the first set. Her home support and experience count, but there is little recent match play to show how sharp she is now; the near-even price gives too little weight to Parks’ preparation. Parks to win is the play.

The concern is plain enough: Parks can spray double faults and lose control of a match in a hurry. That volatility keeps this a measured call, not a free pass.
