Palpites para Ann Li — Maria Camila Osorio Serrano

Ann Li’s Beijing wins over Ashlyn Krueger and Belinda Bencic were controlled, with the Bencic match a proper test; the loss to Elina Svitolina stopped that run short of a statement. Li has shown she can attack when her timing is there, but also stay in a match when it isn’t—a useful counter to Maria Camila Osorio Serrano’s knack for making points awkward.

Osorio made Cori Gauff work, so this is no walkover. But after needing three sets to get past Tyra Caterina Grant, she let an opening-set lead slip against Katie Volynets and reached the draw as a lucky loser. Li has also won their last three meetings, most recently 6-1 6-2 in Monterrey; that supports the pick, not a promise of another score like it. At a near-even price, Ann Li to win looks the better side.

Osorio’s two three-set qualifiers came on consecutive days, and back discomfort was reported against Gauff. Neither means she is injured or exhausted now; she can still disrupt Li, and that is the real risk.
